Happy Anniversary

Our Love Still Grows

Our anniversary means a lot,
Much more than any another day;
I celebrate my love for you,
And cherish you in every way.
Through passing time, our love still grows;
It lasts through good times and bad.
Our future together still shines bright,
With more good times to be had!

one in shoe is worth two in the flush

Being the parent of a toddler is a very fulfilling experience. Sure there is the love and adoration , the firsts that you’ll never forget yada yada yada but the story I’m about to tell you is the stuff of legend. This story will DEFINITELY be brought up the first time Brynna brings a boy home. She’ll be mortified and we’ll be happy.

Anyway, on to the story.

The other day while I was out mowing the lawn, Marcy was putting things away in our bedroom and Brynna was enjoying some naked time while she was playing with Marcy’s mountain biking shoes. Putting them on, taking them off, shuffling around in them etc. Generally being content in her own little world. Of course it’s when B is quiet and content that you really have to worry. That’s when Marcy heard the tell tale utterings we’ve grown accustomed to when B is having naked time. "Uh-oh". Marcy turned around to discover that B had somehow, while wearing the shoes, managed to pinch a nice steaming loaf into the back of Marcy’s shoes.

Its times like these that I’m glad I’m a father, oh, and that for once MY SHOES were put away.

See pic below. I warn you, its disturbing, gross and absolutely hilarious all at the same time.

Day late...

...a dollar short. The Browne's beat us to the punch on this one posting photos yesterday but here are a couple from our camera.

From the looks of it, I think they had fun. You?

A bit late

Sorry, things have been hectic in Damrick land recently so my posts have been infrequent and unimaginative. Thankfully, things are starting to slow down ever so slightly so I should be able to post more often but most importantly, you'll still be able to enjoy the same unimaginative drivel as always. Enjoy!

A couple of weeks ago, as the weather turned beautiful again, we had a nice lunch downtown at Schooner Landing. A restaurant with a great deck on the water, some good beer and not much else unless you enjoy everything fried. Its the atmosphere that counts most though so we suck it up and enjoy the fresh air.
Sorry for the blur, maybe I was already drunk.

A face just begging to be framed. For pictures at least, not armed robbery.

Taking bear for a walk.

Dessert was pretty good though.

sliding rock

While in North Carolina, the DamFam with GraNelson's in tow visited a place called Sliding Rock. Esentially a waterfall over a smooth ledge outcropping with a nice 8' deep pool at the end-perfect for summer fun. After a very reasonable $1 entry fee we suited up and headed down for some slip-slidin fun. Being in the south we hoped the water would be somewhat warm but of course we were in the mountains of the south at about 3000' so it was anything but. It was cold enough that my feet started to go numb after a minute or so in.

"Good god thats cold, if I had boys they'd be in my stomach right now!"

Being the adventurous bunch we are, we didn't let the cold stop us. Me being the manly type who never, ever waxes his legs volunteered to be the guinee pig and went first. Turns out it was cold but only til you went in over your head then it wasn't so bad because you're brain went numb.

Eventually, all of the adults took their turns in the "refreshing" water.

Brynna had a blast simply watching everyone sliding down the rocks and laughed maniacally when mommy and daddy went.

Eventually, she did her own version on a much smalled rock in water just as cold.

Judging by the size of it, Brynna certainly has fed her head.

We're back!

We have made it back from North Carolina. After an overnight in Asheville (see previous post) we spent 5 days at a cabin in Brevard hiking and biking in Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest. We are eager to return to work for some much needed rest. B-girl was amazing. Things couldn’t have gone any better with a 1 ½ year old. She slept 8 hours straight on the ride down, had a brief pit stop and then slept another 3 hours before breakfast. She was a happy kid and took everything in stride – including missed naps and being dragged up mountains. We of course don’t ever want to hear Baby Einstein’s Playtime Music Box cd again. Our little B-monster hoots and hollers whenever Old MacDonald is played.

As usually happens when we are away, Brynnie reached a couple of milestones on our trip. On May 29 she successfully pooped on the potty. I’ve been waiting a long time for this accomplishment. Unfortunately, I was riding at Dupont State Forest when it happened. Marcy said she tried to get the photo I desperately wanted but the munchkin was too interested in wiping and flushing. I suggested we take a picture of one of my own dooks and try to pass it off as sweet little Brynna’s! Marcy shot down that idea of course (she has a way of killing my dreams!).

The second milestone happened Sunday on the way home. For a while now B has been requesting that we sing “ABCs” with her – she fills in letters. On the way home – somewhere in Virginia (I think we were in Virginia for like 6 hours!) – she sang the entire alphabet start to finish including the “now I know my ABCs part”. This was in between pointing out all of the cows and “horsies” and balloons (actually watertowers).

much more to come.

Road trip!

Sunday afternoon, the DamFam hopped in the car and headed to more humid pastures. Asheville N.C. to be exact.

View from the backseat.

Twenty three hours later (we had to make several extended toddler layovers) we rolled into picturesque Asheville ready for a serious shower and a nap. Unfortunately, there was no time for a nap before dinner but we were able to grab a quick shower before heading out. Of course, if we had known about the major dirty hippie population of the town we could have skipped the shower, got the nap instead and noone would have been the wiser. Our stench would have fit right in.

We ended up having kick ass pizza and beer at Mellow Mushroom (thanks for the tip Leslie!). We followed that up with a stroll around town marvelling at the amount of dreds in town and then headed back to the lovely Bates Motel, I mean, Days Inn to call it a night. Overnight, Marcy booted all of her Mellow Mushroom. She says she's sick, I think she's just making sure she can fit in her bathing suit! Women.

Today we check into our cabin where we'll be for the rest of the week and from there, who knows, maybe a ride, maybe a hike, maybe we'll have too many beers and pass out. The options are limitless when you have no plans.
