Busy, Busy

Like I've been saying, we've been busy at the property. I'm busy pretending to know what I'm doing and trying to stay out of the way and Marcy's dad has been busy actually knowing what he's doing and trying pretty hard not to treat me like the complete idiot that I am. Thanks Steve!

Brynna apparently still not buying it.

what did you do this weekend?

While others were sleeping in, sipping coffee and enjoying the crisp fall weather, the Nelsons were getting a jump start on the framing of our house. The foundation is going in this week (hopefully!) but we're working on framing the walls at Rancho de Nelson so that when the foundation is ready, we'll have a bunch of walls to put up. My father and I worked with two of his friends for about 5 hours on Saturday and got four walls framed and ready to head to Edgecomb.

Old man Nelson and super Dave

Sunday, I was to head from Marcy's mom's place to the property to meet Marcy's dad to finish the prep for the foundation. On my ride down I spotted movement on the side of the road, pulled over and snapped this pic.

After playing stare down for a minute I decided to try riding along with the moose while taking a video. I'm full of good ideas.

After stopping the video (because I felt too vulnerable holding on with just one hand (which also held two winter gloves) , I put the camera away and rode up close to the knock kneed beast getting within 5-6 feet of it's ass. If I wanted to, I could have riden up and slapped it's ass but thought better of it not wanting an 800lb hoof up my ass.

Nelsons go boom!

It's exciting times in DamNelsons land. We finally got the blaster on site today to clear our basement of all that good for nuthin, soap opera watchin ledge. I wasn't able to be there for the actual pop (that's the proper lingo right thar) but I did witness the beginning of the drilling.

drill, drill
drill
After a few minutes of drilling I had to head back to the office for a meeting but thankfully, Marcy was able to get there just in time to see the big show or money shot, if you will.

Getting there

I have many things to post about and lots of pics but I can't seem to find the pics right now so instead I'll talk about this:

Remember this lil guy? Well, as you're probably reading this (hopefully at least) they'll be blasting for our foundation. The foundation was supposed to be in a couple of weeks ago but first the concrete guy hit a glitch and had to put us off a week and then we hit the dreaded ledge. If all goes well, the blasting will be done today, final excavation will be done by this weekend and next week, the foundation will go in. Fingers crossed.

Since we're doing a lot of the work ourselves (who wants to have a huge mortgage in this economy? not me) we've decided to throw caution to the wind and start panelizing the walls at my parents this weekend. Before the foundation is even done. It seems somewhat silly but if we want any chance of being closed in by January it has to be done.

There, now you're caught up on the Nelson house sage and not one mention of poop. You're welcome.

Pumpkinland

I've got pictures from Pumkinland a few weeks ago that I failed to blog about. Unfortunately, we've got some exciting news about the house that I want to pass on so I'm giving you the Clif Note version of this post. If, when writing this for real, I was going to make a joke I'll include a (lol) with the caption that way you'll know that what I would have written would have been funny as shit (as if you didn't know that already). Also, since *I've already; been punctuating strangely in this post, I'm gonna keep that going too?

Marcy and B in the corn maze. (lol, marcy, corncob yada yada yada)

B: and Calia hamming it up {w}hile waiting for a bouncy house.

Elmo Style

I just put B down for her afternoon nap and as I'm sitting here working, I glance over to the couch and see this:

I'm not exactly sure what Elmo is doing to that dog but he sure seems psyched about it!

B has her mind set on a career as a rock star. To prep, she's been working on her moves. Observe.
