12 Month Check-up

This girl loves her pasta with pesto!

Well, B and I have just returned from her twelve month well baby check. Now that she is mobile she is a bit more of a challenge for the doc. In fact, Brynna was kind enough to open all of the drawers in the room and try to eat the Stethoscope. On to her stats:

Height: 31.5" (off the charts)!!!!!
Weight: 22.4 pounds (75th percentile)
I didn't get the head circumference measurement but I can assure you B-girl's head is still large.

Say it with vomit.

You know your daughter loves you when she's kind enough to projectile vomit from your nose to your ear lobe. Love ya right back. Posted by Picasa

I reserve the right to not re-write.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.  I’ve been up to the ole short and curlies with work and house stuff recently and the one time that I’m able to post something, blogger goes and loses it.  Friday’s post was quite amazing too.  More brilliance than one man (boy?) should be allowed to possess really but you’ll never know because it is lost in the world of cyber space and the only thing worse than re-writing a post is re-re-writing a post.  I’d actually rather write a post about how much it would suck to re-write the post than to actually re-write it!  Even if writing about re-writing takes longer than re-writing it in the first place.  Am I right?

I hope so because I’m sort of confused now.

Public urination

Is it me or does this look like B is taking a leak on the fan/diaper genie? If she had outdoor plumbing I'd be sure of it! Posted by Picasa

Proof

Ok, so maybe Marcy wasn't lying (this time at least) since she was able to get undeniable video footage of Brynna walking. All it took was dangling a bag of cheerios in front of her.

Sweet nectar...

please give me the shot I need to stop staring out the window. Maybe I should just pull the blinds?

She gets that from daddy

No, I'm not talking about gas. Well actually, there is that too but what I'm really talking about is her love for bikes. This weekend at JMA Joe's son's birthday party, Enzo received a toy motorcycle to ride on. Once it was within reach, Brynna stood up, firmly grasped the handlebars with both hands and tried to throw a leg over it. I'm not making this up! Here is the proof.

She walks!

This picture doesn't show it really well but during Calia's party, B was able to stand in the bouncing cake several times (on an uneven surface that people were bouncing around on no less).

Since the party, Brynna has started to take some quick, cautious steps. One at a time at first which I have been witness to but Marcy swears that on at least two occasions, she has gone at least 4 steps at once, one time stopping after two steps and then taking two more. I haven't witnessed this feat personally and Brynna aint talking so we'll just have to take Marcy's word for it for now.

p.s. - isn't it cute how Casey and I are wearing matching shirts? Posted by Picasa

Birthday party photo blog take 2

Entertainment for the party was provided by an inflatable bouncing castle/birthday cake Kevin and Tina had rented. After the older kids played in it for literally hours straight, it was time for the little 'uns to give it a shot. Brynna and Calia absolutely loved being in it and just crawled in circles, bouncing and falling the whole time. Of course, despite there being plenty of room in the bouncer B & C still managed to be falling all over each other the whole time.

On Sunday, we went to our friends Kevin and Tina's place for their daughter's first birthday party. Here are some of the photos.

"Oh, I think I've figured it out."

The good life

I just took a quick test on Americanbaby.com about what type of baby you have and I was not surprised at how it came out.
You Have a Type A Baby!
Individuals who fit into this category are usually intense, persistent, stubborn, and competitive. With a drive to succeed, children with these personality traits have the ability to advance quickly in mental and physical tasks. Type A personalities also tend to be motivated by external sources, such as attention and appreciation from others. With high expectations for themselves, Type A personalities often become super-achievers and high-powered, career-driven individuals.

I’m planning my early retirement right now.  I figure that in less than 20 years she’ll be supporting mom and pop.  Either that or she’ll forget about us, move away and have a fabulous life.
2 catapillars + one tomato plant + 2 days = one sorry ass, leaveless tomato plant with two half eaten tomatoes. Those were some plump and juicy looking catapillars when their work was done. Posted by Picasa

More accurate than a finger print.

How can you tell for sure that a child belongs to you? By seeing how well she conforms to your chest, thats how.

Good move

Here's a good idea, pull out your only toilet at 8 am saturday morning before your first cup 0' joe (and hence taking care of business) with no idea of how long it will take to mud and paint behind the toilet. Good move, I think I had it back in by 3pm or so. Posted by Picasa

Ricky's Knee

This week’s installment of Ricky’s Knee is actually serious. I know, I know, I try not to be serious too often but sometimes you do what you have to do.

If you’re going to have a baby or already do, take infant cpr. Marcy and I did while B was very young and last week I had to use it for the first time. B was eating and began to choke on something. Her face initially turned a deep red and started to turn blue. It was only because of that cpr class that I knew to hold her face down and slap her back to clear the obstruction. After a few brisk slaps to the back, she vomited and expelled the culprit. If it wasn’t for the class, I’m not 100% certain that she’d still be with us. Take the class.

here is a funny video of B-Girl laughing here cute little belly laugh. Click on the picture to see it.

Note: the video was squished a bit in movie maker so in real life marcy and brynna aren't quite so short!

Sit down damnit!

Here is the most common thing heard around our house recently “Brynna, sit down. Brynna, down. BRYNNA, SIT DOWN! Thank you…Brynna, sit down! Arghhhhhh”

Brynna absolutely loves the armchair that Uncle Rus and Aunt Cara gave her for Christmas and will climb into and out of it at a dizzying rate. Thankfully we have the padded play mats under it or else we’d never have a stress free moment worrying that she’d try to come down head first again like she used to. Unfortunately, she has discovered that it is fun to stand in the chair and lean way back over the fireplace hearth to try to get our attention. When she does and we tell her to sit, she will do it grudgingly but will then immediately (and with a glimmer of menace in her eyes) stand back up all the while maintaining eye contact with us as if to say “try and stop me old man”. Its cute and infuriating all at the same time. I can’t help but wonder, if she’s like this at 11 months just imagine how much of a pain in the ass she’s going to be in another year. Please help us!

House dad

I’m playing house dad for the day.  Poor B-Girl is down for the count with a nasty ear infection, conjunctivitis, a nasty cough and fever.  Yippy!  Thank god I only have about a bazillion things to do at work or else it would suck to have to stay home.  Unfortunately, Marcy is sick as well and stayed home with B Monday and Tuesday.  I think she decided to go to work today so that she could rest a bit.  Good move if you ask me since even when Brynna is sick she is a bundle of energy.  The only real difference is that she is now a bundle of energy with long green shoelaces of snot flying all over the place.  Its cute in a disgusting sort of way.
