Playdate

For St. Patty's Day, the DAMNfam and the Dearborns headed to the Braun's for some brews and to let the girls get together. The girls had a blast and I had an excuse to drink beer. Bonus.

B checking out the Ikea lounge chair. I see one of these in our future.

Tag, you're it!

"Run away!" (You have to know the Monty Python Holy Grail movie to think this is funny)

When Lilly finally caught B, she wrestled her to the ground and stuck stickers on her head as punishment.

Dinner time!

Just when the girls were getting settled down, Brenda brought out the cupcakes.

A descendant of Picasso?

Being my daughter, Brynna obviously had to be gifted in some way, even if only in methane production. Well, it turns out she is an artist extraordinaire. She has recently started Toddler
Terrific at daycare and it seems to have unleashed her inner creativity illustrated here in her interpretation of the struggles modern day pandas endure on a daily basis.

Or, it could be the fact that they make her sleep on the floor instead of a crib now and this is her form of civil unrest. Better than smearing poop on the wall.

Of course, based on this photo, she could also be a descendant of Einstein with that wild hair of hers. In the photo, Marcy and B were actually making me wholegrain blueberry muffins for breakfast with enough fiber to give an elephant diarrhea for a week but as you can see, it looks like B has already eaten most of the blueberries. The girl actually poops blue.

For those of you keeping track, I made three poop references in today's post.

Wisdom

Chinese proverb say "Poop on side hill, have stinky heel."

Somebody should tell Chance this. On our daily morning run I dutifully bring along a plastic bag to dispose of his "matter" if needed. Not a normal sized sandwich bag like most dog owners get to use, mind you. We actually need to use the plastic bags you get at the grocery store and quite honestly, sometimes those don't even seem adequate. There is nothing like finishing up a nice morning run with a big bag of steaming dog love swinging from your wrist. Not good for picking up chicks either for that matter, thankfully I'm already married.

Anyway, I got off track, usually Chance is kind enough to poop in the ditch so that I'm not required to feel the hot stink through the plastic bag while scooping it up. Unfortunately, he has yet to learn that if you poop on a side hill, you must face either up hill or down hill or else risk having the dook roll down the hill and hit your foot at a most inconvenient time.

Built to travel

Last weekend (not this past weekend but LAST weekend-I get into the argument with Marcy all of the time) while Marcy and I were at Saddleback, Brynna stayed with her Mimi Jo and Papa Don and had a blast. When we came back Sunday afternoon, there was an empty suitcase sitting on the bedroom floor. Brynna was immediately enamered with it and demanded, by way of pointing and saying "dat" over and over again, that we take it to the living room. When we did, she quickly set up shop with herself, baby, baby's blanket and bouncy seat and stayed there more or less for the rest of the afternoon and many hours for days after that. We have since had to dispose of the suitcase because of some behavioural issues but I'm sure it'll make an appearance in the near future when Marcy and I need some -ahem- private time.

So excited to get in the suitcase, she couldn't wait to get dressed after her bath. Thankfully no accidents.

The view from the top of Saddleback Mountain. Not too shabby.

If you're looking for a cheap place to ski with good trails, lots of glades and a sweet lodge definitely check out Saddleback. Marcy and I went up there this past weekend and it was a blast.

When we got back on Monday, Brynna was scheduled to go in for her 18 month check-up and it looks like our little porker is finally slimming out. Her weight is now 25.6 lbs (70%), her height is 33 1/4" (75%) but thankfully her melon still leads the pack at 19.3" (97%). Yippee!

Food for thought

Yesterday I got a much needed haircut. I asked for it to be cut extra short this time because I usually wait way too long to get my haircut each time. Of course this only means that I’ll be able to put off getting it cut for even longer this time but hey, there’s no arguing with me sometimes.

Anyway, this morning as I was trying to “do” my hair it occurred to me that a new haircut is similar to a new relationship. It’s exciting and full of promise at first but soon you realize its going to take a lot more work (and gel) to get things working correctly.
