Imagine that
A DAMNelsons post that doesn't include pictures of the house. Go figure.
Last Friday the decision was made to take the whole day off and spend the morning getting some quality family time in. These days, more often than not, the construction of the new house dominates all leaving very little time to enjoy each others company. As much as we'd like to have a place to stay when we have to move out of our current place in May it seemed even more important to ensure that we'll still actually BE a family when that time comes, we can always sleep in a tent I guess. This has been a bumper year for snow (wouldn't you know it) and we've had no time to enjoy it so we decided to head out snowshoeing.

B is getting kind of big for her pack but I just consider it a bonus workout for me.

house update
Another week and another 2 1/2 days work on the house. We're nearly closed in with just a bit of wall and roof sheathing to complete before the windows can go in and then, mercifully, we'll be able to do some work inside on crappy days (of which, we've had MANY this winter).

the look
Just in case the fine craftsmanship you've witnessed in recent photos of the house construction has made you forget what our place will EVENTUALLY look like, here is a quick rendering I did yesterday for some promotional stuff here at the office.

House update
Another fine weekend (ok, we haven't had many nice weekends) and more progress on the house. This past weekend was spent sheathing the curved roof (two layers of sheathing and one layer of rigid insulation, call it a roof sammich). It was a daunting task made much easier because I was able to yoink a lift from work for the weekend. Working for a large design build company has it's perks!
Notice the crisp, clean lines at the top of the curved wall? Well, that fine artisan was...
Grampy Nelson. That there is some fine craftsmanship!
Not sure what to say about this one. It's amazing that Darren can't find a woman...
