snowshoeing
more photo blogging today.
On Saturday Marcy, B and I decided to take advantage of the freshly fallen foot of snow in our area and headed out for a short snowshoeing trip with the pooch. It turned out to be a winter wonderland of sorts. The previous night's wet snow had coated everything in a heavy blanket causing every tree in within a three mile to lean into the trail. This was not ideal with a 30 lb squirming toddler on my back. We fought our way through the initial sappling area by every conceivable method including; double teaming, crawling on hands and knees, crying, Brynna crying etc. Once through the initial mess we were rewarded to a beautiful and idyllic early winter day.
Death by a 1000 whippets
B snuggled in against the cold.
Marcy and Mr. Fatty Pants once things opened up.
The somewhat distorted family photo. I'm guessing B was having fun.

SNOW DAY
I have lots of catching up to do here on DamNelsons so here is a quick photo blog of the first snow day of the season from last week (I think).
B eating snow off her mittens. At least when she was doing this she wasn't licking boogies off her upper lip!

The buffet continues...
Wrastlin in the snow with daddy.
And of course, the pre-requisite bike in snow shot to see if it was rideable. It was, even at 10 inches (in the pic, the snow had already been trampled by the pooch)

gingerbread
Last week, I was forced to help build a gingerbread house at work for a competition in town (which we won of course. We totally kicked those 8 years old's asses.) After my hissy fit passed for having to do something so silly when I have sooooo much work to do, I was able to kind of enjoy the whole process. Here are some pics so I don't have to write more.
Marcy and B came one night to help out (really for me to see B before bed)

The almost finished product. We each did a portion of the "tree house". Mine is the one on top of the stump.
A close up of mine. I was going for a Dr. Suessy look. I think I pulled it off

welcome to the nelson morgue
There are few things in life more disturbing than to walk into your own living room to find seven dolls all carefully arranged with blankets lovingly draped over their lifeless bodies. Anybody who has seen the Chuckie series of movies know the chills I'm talking about.

Uncle Darren
We're not sure why but Brynna seems to love that scruffy bastard. Maybe its because he'll actually turn on Mickey Mouse and watch it with her when she asks.

leaves!
Too freaking busy to post recently so here are some photos of B jumping in the leaves a couple of weeks ago. She's still young so we decided not to rake the leaves on top of a steaming pile of chance poo for that "first dive suprise" but when she gets a little older and more sulky I just might.

Happy Thanksgiving
We like to extend the Thanksgiving feast as long as possible - meal number three tomorrow. In the meantime here are a few more pictures from our trip to the The Aquarium.
Brynna loved watching this GIANT sea turtle.

Unable to access the live penguins Brynna opted to shower this statue with her affection - including kisses!

Sadly, Brynna wasn't all that interested in the seals. They seemed pretty interested in her though - maybe it was the fruit cup.
Thanks for "baby penguin" Aunt Cara and Uncle Rusty (he resides in the "belly" of the penguin backpack) !

aquarium
A couple of weekends ago we ventured down to beantown to take Brynna to visit with Uncle Rusty and Aunt Cara and to go to the New England Aquarium. B had a blast and couldn't get enough of the penguins and turtles. Everything else could take a flying leap as far as she was concerned. Many more photos to come...

Retirement hopes squandered
There comes a point in each parent's life when they make the realization that their amazingly brilliant child has probably been secretly eating paint chips in their spare time because they do something so amazingly stupid that there are just no words. Its best to find out early on so you don't pin your retirement hopes on your offspring ruling the free world and being able to provide you with the retirement you deserve considering the sacrifices you made to make their life almost liveable (Except, of course, for the unfortunate teen years. Poor, poor teenagers, you have it sooooo rough.) We made our realization the other day when I discovered B will chase a flashlight beam around like some idiotic ankle biter dog with a brain the size of a concord grape. Observe:
I do have to admit though that she did somewhat redeem herself by opening the doors to limit the amount of surface area for the beam to land on. Maybe there is hope for her yet. I mean, seriously, do you think George Bush would have thought of that? I suspect after not being able to figure out what to do with it, he would have deemed the light part of the Axis of Evil and declared war on our kitchen just to save face.
